Start pull-start engines with a trigger, not a tug
The Pullstarter was inspired by family and brought to life through engineering. Our founder, a mechanical engineer with a lifelong passion for solving problems, first saw the need while spending time with his grandfather. Though still mobile and independent, his grandfather no longer had the same strength to pull-start engines. Something as simple as mowing the lawn or starting a generator had become frustrating and sometimes painful, requiring multiple attempts and risking injury to his shoulders and back.
As an engineer with a knack for innovation, he recognized that this wasn’t just his grandfather’s problem — it was a challenge faced by thousands of people around the world. Seniors, those recovering from injuries, and even everyday equipment users often struggle with pull cords. The question became clear: Why rely on a century-old method when we have better tools available today?
Driven by both love for his grandfather and a desire to improve lives, he began designing a practical solution. By harnessing something nearly everyone already owns — a cordless drill — he developed a device that could reliably replicate the pull of a cord without the strain. After months of prototyping, refining, and testing across different engines and conditions, the Pullstarter emerged as a lightweight, durable, and effective tool that could start engines consistently with the squeeze of a trigger.
The early prototypes were tested not only by his grandfather but also by neighbors, friends, and other everyday users. The response was overwhelmingly positive: people immediately saw the value in reducing physical strain while making their equipment easier and safer to use. From that feedback, the product was further improved to ensure compatibility with a wide range of machines — from lawn mowers and snow blowers to generators, tillers, and even small outboard motors.
What started as a personal mission has grown into a company-wide vision: making outdoor power equipment accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. By blending engineering expertise with compassion and real-world usability, the Pullstarter has become more than just a product — it’s a symbol of independence, innovation, and practicality.
